Our Cause
WHO WE ARE
We’re a family-run business of animal 🐈 and nature lovers, founded by women, who dream of bringing our products to homes where pets 🦊 are part of the family. Just like you, we are pet lovers who create natural and unique products that offer safety, comfort, and well-being to our furry companions. We design high-standard hygiene products made from surplus natural raw materials harvested along the beautiful coasts of Chile. 🇨🇱
Why SeaWeed? 🌿
Seaweed is 90% water, acting like a natural sponge to absorb liquids and odors. Its natural salt content helps prevent the growth of microorganisms — making it the perfect single-ingredient litter.
At LAQU we don’t replace nature — we recreate it. Our products are designed to replicate the natural environment where pets instinctively relieve themselves. After all, cats don’t pee in lavender fields — they seek natural, neutral, and safe spaces. That’s exactly what Seaweed Eco Litter® provides: comfort, hygiene, and an environment that feels natural to them, while staying clean and safe for their owners.
Where does our litter come from? 🌿
At LAQU, we do not extract seaweed from the ocean. Our litter is made from a by-product of dried seaweed processing, specifically the fine residue that used to be discarded. Thanks to our own technological development, we now transform it through an upcycling process into a natural, compostable, high-performance litter.
This by-product comes from processing plants operating under the strict regulations of SERNAPESCA, the Chilean authority responsible for the sustainable management of marine resources. These plants use raw materials collected by authorized artisanal fishermen, who follow quotas, bans, and regulations that protect the balance of the marine ecosystem.
Although we don’t perform the extraction ourselves, we recognize and value the work of coastal communities, who—under these regulations—make sustainable seaweed harvesting possible. Our mission is to go one step further: revalue what was once waste, and contribute to a circular economy that protects both the ocean and your home. 💙
